OH NO

The marathon is less than 48 hours away and I was up all night with a sick little girl, at which time I am pretty sure I had puke sprayed in my face (TMI?). If I get sick on marathon day, I think will yank my hair out.

What's been on my mind lately

Mick has been having the hardest time with the switch from Kindergarten to 1st grade. Is this normal? What can I do to help him? Why does he have insomnia? Is it related to his anxiety about school? Will a little more time be all he needs? This is the first real problem that he has had in his usually happy life. I cannot just kiss him and put a band-aid on it and make it go away. So if anyone out there has a suggestion that might help us, by all means, let me hear it.

Lessons in Temperature Reading

Mick: I'm sooo hot!

Adam: It's a hot day out there today!

Mick: How hot, Dad?

Adam: Pretty hot.

Mick: Is it almost freakin' hot?

Adam: Yes, Mick, it's almost freakin' hot.

The Difference in Men and Women

Tonight walking around the neighborhood, Adam and I had this little conversation-
Me: It feels like I haven't gotten to do anything fun for a long time.
Adam: I know. Before things came up today, I was really was planning on taking you to D.I. tonight.
Me: My point exactly!!

Twenty Wishes

So, I am reading this book called Twenty Wishes by Debbie MaComber. It's a good book. These ladies in it decide to write out twenty wishes and try to accomplish them. It made me wonder what I wish for. I don't have quite twenty yet, but here is a start, in no particular order...........
1. Catch up on my scrapbooking
2. Stay caught up on said scrapbooking
3. Take a vacation and hike to the ancient Incan ruins in Peru
4. Teach Tori to read before she is 5
5. Volunteer somewhere someday for something important
6. Go to esthetician school
7. Learn about dog shows and dog agility shows and compete in them
8. Hike King's Peak
9. Run a marathon
10. Go through a whole day without chocolate (never gonna happen)
11. Be an awesome cake decorator
12. Get over my phobia of calling people on the phone, honestly, I would rather talk to someone face to face then call them.
13. Own shoes in every color to go with every outfit.
14. Plant a garden
15. Learn at least some basic Spanish
16. Take an Excel and Outlook computer class
17. Invest in more real estate
18. Take my family to Disneyland
19. Be a better mom, wife, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, neighbor, and friend
20. Since I this is my last wish, I am wishing BIG. I want clean sheets put on my bed every single day by someone other than me.
I guess I really did have twenty wishes. That was almost too easy. I want want want.............

Victoria the Pre-school Girl

So today was Tori's first day of school. She is going to Bright Ideas Preschool. It's here in our nieghborhood, about a block from Mick's elementary school, so that is wonderfully convenient. Her teacher's name is Heather and there are several kids she knows from our nieghborhood and church that are in her class. She was so excited to finally use her Princess backpack, but a little miffed that she didn't get to pack a lunch like Mick does. She was still happy and excited in this picture.
Now she is way past done with posing for pictures.
And this is when I picked her up and she was mad cause she didn't want to go home yet! Always a good sign!!!
